The technology, which has been tested in University of Arizona, Tucson, Department of Environmental Studies, proves that the textile treated with the technology can kill almost 99 per cent of Human coronavirus 229e.

The textile treatment can be done on any variety of fabric, and is currently used on face masks. The masks are made of three separate filtration layers and the combination of these leads to protection of almost 99.99 per cent. Besides, these are washable, reusable and can be used almost 210 times without any impact on its quality.

Moreover, unlike other metal-based solutions, the technology proves to be non-toxic to lungs and skin.

The manufacturing of masks is currently being done in countries including Portugal, Israel, Sri Lanka, Jordan, UAE, India and China.

The company is working closely with US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the results of the testing. Waiting for a clearance by FDA, these masks are not yet available for sale in US, but might be available by next week.

Also, the company is positive about the results and believes that the application of this technology will help country through these challenging times.

A few of the companies have already adopted the technology for manufacturing of various products. ReadyOne, a manufacturer of battle dress for the US Military, is one of the companies that will be manufacturing Livinguard-certified masks. Another company is Fine Hygienic Holding (FHH), based in Jordan.

Procter & Gamble was among the first companies to buy FHH’s Fine Guard brand of masks to equip its employees in China.

“We are enthused and grateful to be able to offer a powerful tool in the fight against coronavirus. The unique characteristics of Livinguard will provide users with an unprecedented level of safety. This is particularly important as shelter-in -place orders are eased,” said Sanjeev Swamy, Founder and CTO of Livinguard.
